I came across Tyler Shield’s photography on Instagram and I have since become a convert so much so I dubbed my Thursdays; ‘Tyler Thursdays’ and got a like from him! (Swoon). For me what I appreciate the most of his work is the creative concept that drives his pictures and published series. I love how his photography appears simple on the surface but deep and expressive after a proper look. Loud, Provocative, Daring and Fearless are common themes across his published series out of which Indulgence is one of my favourites.

According to Tyler, Indulgence is an Idea –If you are looking for the rest of the sentence which might explain what was on his mind when making this series well, you are not alone– I believe he left that part to the photographs to explain as usual. Do you indulge? The society we live in today encourages Indulgence in every form. Everywhere you go something has been packaged and placed strategically to lure you into making a purchase; on the train, bus, in your mail, on the television and your computer.

For some people Luxury is their greatest indulgence as depicted in the Indulgence Series; the crocodile in this photograph is biting on a $100,000.00 Hermes Birkin Bag. Indulgence has its pro’s and con’s and the world is suffering from some of the con’s of Indulgence today.
