Well I do! at least some :p Learning Norwegian. Why you may ask? well because my Fiance is Norwegian and we intend to settle there for the first few years of our lives together and Norsk/Norwegian is the official language. Any Norwegians apart from him reading my blog???…Hei! *waves*.
Did a crash course last summer on Nivå A1 and A2 in London and except from some ‘Eiendomsord’ which i still struggle with I think I have not found it terribly difficult to learn the basics.
I used the På Vei Syllabus which I found very user friendly, in addition I watch TV2 Skole quite often, also try to read the news on Klartale and many other video clips on Youtube and TV2 or NRK. It also helped to be a part of a London Norwegian Meet Up Group and of course have my fiancé and his family talk to me in Norwegian forcing me to listen intently…lol They talk quite fast.
Norway is a really beautiful country with beautiful people…when I say beautiful people I also mean physically..haha! I remember waiting to board at Gatwick Airport in a sea of blondes on my first flight out there…l picked my phone called my family and asked them to remind me how I got there..lol I was really nervous but the people were nice. Most Norwegians in my experience I think treat you fairly, as long as you are a person of value and not a mooch they respect you and don’t really care for your ‘social status’ or race.
Here are a 5 of my favourite things from Norway.
Think the best margarine I’ve had. I also love Norwegian Breakfast or Frokost as they call it. Love the many different delicious toppings/ pålegg they have to go with Bread.
Loved having this at Christmas/Jul with nuts at the bottom… Simply relish!
Cannot for the life of me remember what this cake/kake is called but I was addicted to it..
Vaffle og Brunost/Waffles and Brown Cheese…The best way to eat Waffles if you ask me…Yum!
And of course….him.. haha! I’m going to do a proper post on some of my Norwegian adventures under Travel soon, till then if you are reading this and speak or are learning Norwegian…Leave a comment on your experience or Get in touch! May be we can speak some together…x
